The shaft assembly/torque limiter was designed by Yamaha to dampen the shock load on the front differential. The idea is that when overloaded, the clutches in the torque limiter would slip and keep the front differential from breaking.

The torque limiter is located in the front of the transmission, and can be removed in the car by removing the front driveline and unbolting it from the transmission. 

Generally, these units wear out over time. However, if you have it stuck or have broken a rear driveline/differential and drove home on the front differential, then you've probably worn it out. 

Currently these units are only available as an assembly from Yamaha and are usually on backorder. Making matters a bit worse, the 2024+ has been reduced by 15% either due to size constraints or to further reduce the load. 
If you are running the MDM 4-gear Billet Carrier we can modify the limiter to increase load clamp load on the clutch, which would move your weak link to the front axle and provide maximum traction to the front tires.

 Ship us your worn out shaft assembly, and we will handle the rest (including disassembly, cleaning, inspection, replacement of worn components and re-assembly) and ship it back to you. In general, the turn around time is 2-3 days and ships via Fedex Express.
