ECU Fault Codes

A fast YXZ reference for identifying the system that needs testing.

Check first: Record the exact code before disconnecting power. Inspect battery voltage, grounds, wiring, connectors, hoses, and recent repairs before replacing components.

Code 08

Gear-position sensor circuit is open or shorted.

Code 12

The ECU is not receiving a normal crankshaft-position signal. Test the circuit before replacing parts; this code does not automatically identify a failed starter.

Intake-air-pressure sensor 1 circuit is open or shorted.

Speed-sensor signal is missing, or a neutral/clutch-switch circuit fault was detected.

Incorrect supply voltage is reaching the fuel injector or fuel pump.

Code 44

The ECU encountered an EEPROM read/write error.

Code 46

Charging-system voltage is outside the normal range.

Code 50

ECU memory fault.

Code 85

Oil-pressure-switch circuit is open or shorted.

Code 92

PCV-solenoid circuit is open or shorted.
